# Export Formats and Quality Settings for 3D Models

> Choose from 7 export formats, 5 quality levels, multiple material types and texture resolutions, plus mesh settings and compression options.

AI 3D Model Generator supports a comprehensive set of export options so you can generate 3D models optimized for any target platform or workflow. After a job completes, you can configure the output format, quality level, material type, and texture resolution before downloading your final model. These settings ensure your 3D asset performs well whether it is deployed on the web, in a game engine, or sent to a 3D printer.

## Export Formats

The application supports seven export formats, each suited for different platforms and use cases.

| Format | Description | Best For |
| - | - | - |
| **GLB** | Compact binary version of glTF | Web applications, default format for fast delivery |
| **USDZ** | Universal Scene Description (zip-compressed) | Apple AR, iOS applications, native AR previews |
| **FBX** | Filmbox format with broad support | Game engines (Unity, Unreal), Maya, Blender interchange |
| **OBJ** | Simple, widely supported geometry format | Universal 3D compatibility, legacy applications |
| **STL** | Stereolithography format | 3D printing, CNC manufacturing |
| **PLY** | Polygon File Format / Stanford Triangle Format | Point cloud visualization, academic research |
| **DAE (Collada)** | Collaborative Design Activity format | Interchange between DCC tools, archival storage |

## Quality Levels

Select a quality level to balance processing time against geometric detail and surface fidelity.

| Level | Description | Use Case |
| - | - | - |
| **Extra-Low** | Fastest generation, lowest polygon count and detail | Quick prototyping, thumbnails, low-bandwidth previews |
| **Low** | Reduced detail for faster delivery | Mobile applications, rapid iteration |
| **Medium** | Balanced quality and performance | Default setting for general-purpose 3D models |
| **High** | Increased polygon density and surface detail | Desktop applications, marketing renders |
| **Ultra** | Maximum detail, slowest generation | Film production, high-fidelity visualization, archival |

## Material Types

Choose a material shading model to match your intended visual style.

| Type | Description | Best For |
| - | - | - |
| **PBR** | Physically-based rendering with realistic light response | Real-time applications, default material type |
| **Shaded** | Flat shading with minimal lighting calculations | Stylized looks, performance-critical scenes |
| **Unlit** | No lighting calculations, full-brightness albedo | UI elements, guaranteed consistent color |
| **Toon** | Cartoon-style shading with stepped light bands | Animated content, games with stylized art direction |
| **Realistic** | Photorealistic material simulation with advanced subsurface effects | Cinematic rendering, product visualization |

## Texture Resolutions

Pick a resolution based on your target platform memory budget and visual requirements.

| Resolution | Description | Best For |
| - | - | - |
| **512** | Low-resolution textures | Very low-end mobile, distant LODs |
| **1024** | Standard low-resolution | Mobile applications, performance-critical scenes |
| **2048** | Default balanced resolution | Web applications, general real-time use |
| **4096** | High-resolution detail | Desktop applications, close-up inspection |
| **8192** | Very high resolution | Film and broadcast, high-end visualization |
| **16384** | Maximum texture resolution | Archival, print, extreme close-up detail |

## Mesh Settings

Fine-tune the geometry output for your target pipeline.

### Mesh Modes

  <Card title="Triangle" icon="shapes">
    Standard triangulated mesh. Guaranteed compatibility with all renderers and engines.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Quad" icon="square">
    Clean quadrilateral topology. Preferred for animation, sculpting, and subdivision workflows.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Adaptive" icon="arrows-spin">

  </Card>
</CardGroup>

### Mesh Options

| Option | Default | Description |
| - | - | - |
| **Simplify** | Enabled | Reduces polygon count while preserving visual quality |
| **Smooth** | Enabled | Applies smoothing to reduce faceted appearance |
| **LOD Generation** | Optional | Creates optimized Level-of-Detail meshes for real-time applications |

### Compression Levels

Control file size and loading time with adjustable compression.

| Level | Description |
| - | - |
| **None** | Uncompressed output, largest file size, fastest decode |
| **Low** | Minimal compression, slight size reduction |
| **Medium** | Balanced compression for general use |
| **High** | Significant file size reduction with acceptable quality trade-offs |
| **Extreme** | Maximum compression, smallest file size, longest decode time |

## Texture and Material Maps

Enhance surface detail with additional texture maps and optimizations.

<Accordion title="Available Maps">
  * **Normal Map**: Adds surface detail without increasing geometry
  * **Ambient Occlusion**: Simulates soft shadowing in creases and cavities
  * **Emission**: Defines self-illuminating areas on the material
  * **Displacement**: Physically displaces mesh geometry at render time
  * **Parallax**: Simulates depth on flat surfaces through offset sampling
  * **UV Optimization**: Improves texture space usage and reduces artifacts
  * **Texture Atlas**: Combines multiple textures into a single atlas for fewer draw calls
</Accordion>

## Color Space Options

Set the correct color space for your target display and rendering pipeline.

| Color Space | Description | Best For |
| - | - | - |
| **sRGB** | Standard RGB color space | Web, general screens, default option |
| **Linear** | Linear light values | Physics-based rendering, compositing pipelines |
| **Rec2020** | Wide-gamut color space | HDR displays, modern broadcast |
| **ACES** | Academy Color Encoding System | Film production, ACES-compliant pipelines |
| **DCI-P3** | Digital Cinema Initiatives color space | Cinema projection, color-accurate workflows |

## Export Presets

For convenience, the application provides common output configurations. Select a preset and the format, quality, and texture settings adjust automatically.

| Preset | Recommended Settings |
| - | - |
| **Web** | GLB, Medium quality, 2K textures |
| **Mobile** | GLB, Low quality, 1K or 2K textures |
| **Desktop** | FBX or GLB, High quality, 4K textures |
| **VR** | GLB or USDZ, Medium quality, 2K textures, LOD enabled |
| **AR** | USDZ, Medium quality, 2K textures, optimized mesh |
| **Print** | STL or OBJ, Ultra quality, maximum texture resolution |
| **Game** | FBX, Medium or High quality, 2K textures, triangle mesh |
| **Film** | FBX or DAE, Ultra quality, 8K textures, quad mesh |

<Tip>
  For web deployments, use GLB with Medium quality and 2K textures to balance visual fidelity with fast loading times. For 3D printing, choose STL or OBJ with Ultra quality to ensure maximum geometric accuracy.
